Gentle renovation or effective corrosion protection even in problem areas 23.12.2009
Blasting with sharp blasting abrasives is indisputably one of the most efficient and reliable pre-treatment methods in the field of steel corrosion protection. Time after time – above all in the renovation of existing structures – situations are encountered in which this is not possible; whether because of the geometry of the object or also due to unfavourable underlying conditions. At times like these, the only alternative is so-called manual rust removal with disk sanders, wire brushes, etc., in conjunction with which the removal of corrosion products, an old coating or rusty galvanizing without leaving a residue is extremely difficult, or even impossible.
So what can be done? Does a substrate that has been pre-treated according to St 3 provide suitable protection? – Yes!
